Stash-what-sky?

A recent post by Chris prompted me to google for my name.
First, there are 56 google hits to my name, of which about 50 are actually me. I found this creepy site in the results; a site that tries to link names with employers: That zoominfo site lists Stanislav Stashevskyy, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
![]()
Stashevskyy is aparently an OK translation of the original Ukranian/Russian “Сташевский” (If you can’t read that, your browser sucks). So I searched some more with that.
There’s Vlad (Влад) Stashevsky, the hot male model of the mid 90s. ![]()
![]()
Richard J Stashevsky, a headmaster of a christian school in Indiana. ![]()
Shmuel Stashevsky, who is at a university in Israel. He’s written a few books, including one about how people misbehave in organizations.
![]()
There’s 4 Stashevskys that I found in this list of Holocaust victims from a place in Poland.
I look like none of these people, except maybe Shmuel, who totally has my eyebrows. I have no idea why I’m posting this, just excited that I figured out how to spell my last name in cyrillic =).

weekend update
Posted on June 20, 2006 | Filed Under Family, Home, Friends
Another busy weekend and I’m back at work already. I was lucky enough to get a ride to Victoria with my friend Adrienne’s sister, Sabrina, and her puppy Molly early Friday morning and we made the 9am ferry. Spent Friday and Saturday with Adrienne, Sabrina and others while we celebrated Adrienne and Russ’ upcoming wedding with a stagette and bridal shower. I documented the whole thing with my camera, but unfortunately I cant share them all. I will post some of them later this week.
Saturday afternoon I made it out to my parent’s place for a yummy home-cooked mom dinner and spent some time with my dad (mostly watching hockey!). Sunday morning my dad and I got up early before everyone else and went to Thetis Lake for a hike/walk…We saw a deer, but it was so far away the picture is really just of a brown blob. Then we went back home, woke up my mom and great aunt Pat and then we went out to Sidney for brunch and to the 1pm ferry home. I arrived home shortly after 4pm, had a short rest, then Jeremy and I cleaned up our place and cooked dinner. We had a fun dinner party with Mel, Chris, Jo and Scott and played a crazy game of Killer Bunnies. Note: The Ebola virus is BAAAD. Overall it was a great weekend!
Work is back to mostly normal, our manager is back at work after the big wigs realized they had no actual evidence…Im enjoying my new position so far, its more challenging and more fun! I have now fully staked my claim on this desk and moved everyone else’s stuff (sales guys used to use this one once in a while) to another one….muahahha.
Im looking forward to a quiet week of spending time playing with our new playstation2…i love megaman!

Camping and upheaval
Posted on June 13, 2006 | Filed Under Day to day, Friends, Drama
Last weekend was really great. We went camping at Skookumchuck hot springs. It was a beautiful weekend, no rain, great campsite right beside the river and good friends to spend time with. After the weekend I was relaxed and happy, and went to bed super early and got a great rest Sunday night.
Monday my work got very dramatic. Our manager went to Victoria for a meeting with bigwigs and we got a call that he’s not coming back. We all freak out, wanting to know whats up. Today, big wigs come to our office and tell us he is suspended (with pay) while they investigate. Systems people come with a locksmith to break into his office and steal his computer. Our compliance dept is claiming he did this sketchy deal which lost our branch $10K and we are all completely sure that it was a computer glitch because it all makes no sense at all and its completely absurd that he did it. Anyway, so now we got interviewed by HR and it is just all very sketchy and is making us all uneasy. Im not feeling very confident in their investigative skills. I guess Ill see what happens tomorrow….

Nosy groceries
Posted on June 8, 2006 | Filed Under Randomness
Maybe I’m the only one who does this but when I’m in line at the grocery store, I cant help but look at other people’s groceries. The other day I was kind of amused when the girl in front of me was buying low fat yogurt, reduced fat cereal, skim milk, low fat everything and then 4 chocolate bars and some ice cream. It makes me laugh, but then I realize that I do that too. Seems so silly to save calories on all the healthy real food only in order to eat the crap junk food. Or maybe the junk was for someone else in the house I guess…
And on another day, a young couple behind me bought 8L of milk (!), four or five loaves of white bread, a whole fish (skin scales head etc) and three packages of chicken livers. Im also confused how people eat chicken feet? Isnt is just bone? Are they used to flavour other foods?
It’s nosy of me, but I’m always curious about it. I try to figure out what recipe they could possibly be making with broccoli, mustard and kidney beans.

You will not defeat me ANTS!
Posted on June 5, 2006 | Filed Under The Apartment
I think Ive figured out how to stop ants! We found the hole they are using to come in. We put an ant trap there (with a Kleenex box around it so Jules wouldnt eat it.
Today when I came home from work there were ants everywhere! On the counter! On dishes! I went crazy and killed many and sucked lots up with the vaccum.
I looked up some helpful hints and found that ants dont like pepper! So i emptied my container of black pepper all around that kleenex box, leaving them a road to go in to the trap. And it seems to work! They crawl up to the border of the pepper and run in circles then go back. Im hoping that they will go into the trap and get the poison to take home. So far, SUCCESS! Im just sitting here watching them not cross the pepper border! YAY!

Things that make me feel old.
Posted on June 4, 2006 | Filed Under Randomness
Number 14: In line at the Shoppers Drug Mart I am buying scotch mints, altoids, and a Tide To Go stain remover pen. The kid beside me is buying pink and purple nerds and Hubba Bubba gum.
Number 27: At my friends’ engagement party I have a sore throat so I spend most of the night drinking water with lemon squeezed in it instead of numbing my throat pain with tequila.

Invaded!
Posted on June 3, 2006 | Filed Under The Apartment
When we got up this morning we discovered that our house had been invaded by ants! Little fast moving ants! All over the living room. They are coming up between the crack of the floor and wall on the outside wall of the living room…Now, you would think with a cat in the house, she would eat them or at least play with them. But no, our cat just sits and stares at them and then looks at us. How the heck do you stop ants from coming into your place? Jeremy is buying some ant trap things, but does killing the ones that get up here fix the problem? We have never had any in here before, so its kind of weird.
