Dealing
Posted on August 10, 2006 | Filed Under Rants
How do you deal with someone who is really nice, but honestly, just is not smart? Right now, I’m using a combination of patience, understanding, but recently a little more frustration and anger is seeping through.
How can I not be impatient? How do you deal with people in your life who just dont get it!?

Firstly, I’m sorry - and I appreciate your patience with me.
After reading the Power of Now, I’d suggest that maybe you are resisting what is. Instead of resisting the situation, accept it and do not let your mind think about it and suffer.
After reading (some of) Awaking the Buddha Within, I’d suggest practicing unconditional love and acceptance. I’d look at the motivation for my interactions with this person. What is my intention in doing this action? (Noaction is also an action)
After reading (some of) the Baghavad Gita, I’d suggest practicing self-less action. Commit yourself to whatever you are doing, but do not be attached to the outcome.
Maybe if you ask me next week I’ll say to be a more Pragmatic Programmer.
Dammit, Luke made the joke I was going to make, and he’s gotten to Buddha before me too as well.
After reading (some of ) The Sacred Balance by David Suzuki, I’d have to recommend eating local produce. Hrm, doesn’t fit in quite as well.
That was my joke too. Guess it wasn’t very original. Sigh.
Shall I continue the trend? After reading (most of, I’m not done yet) Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl, I’d say you need to find out what it is that is meaningful to you about the situation, and remember that, and focus on that while you deal with this person.
Great to see you again last week btw
I’ll have to come over there more often now that I realize it’s less scary than I thought it was…
Thank you for your helpful ideas. Luke, as for the Power of Now, I must just accept the way the person is and deal with it. It is possible they wont be dealing with me directly for much longer…
Chris, I will eat some local veggies just for you.
Jenni- hey was that you that biked by Jeremy and I last Sunday? I swear it was you, and that you just didnt stop because the guy you were with was way ahead of you and not stopping…
